Chameleon Optics was founded in 1998 for the purpose of developing and commercializing unique optical coatings. The company was established in Philadelphia PA, but relocated to Bethlehem PA in 2012.

Chameleon Optics was founded in 1998 for the purpose of developing and commercializing unique optical coatings. The company was established in Philadelphia PA, but relocated to larger facilities in Bethlehem PA on January 1, 2012. Chameleon Optics can draw upon a large array of academic and commercial partners to speed product development. Chameleon Optics has been partially funded through research contracts from the Ben Franklin Technology Partners, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the National Science Foundation. Chameleon Optics remains an independent small business. Dr. Paul J. Martin is the Founder and Chief Technical Officer of Chameleon Optics. He is a co-inventor of the electrochromic ink technology. Dr. Martin has over thirty years of experience developing and commercializing unique electronic and optical materials, and holds several patents in these fields.
